Last week, I bought this French metal embroidery thread at the Apeldoorn Antiques Fair for only 8 euro :-) I'll probably use it to finish the seams of a medieval purse, like this.

Specifically, I have a moy gown and was thinking of embroidering along the hem line, however, I can’t find evidence that they would embroider the dress in such a fashion…
Do you happen to know anything about Irish Medieval Embroidery? If not, do you know anyone who does?

I don't know about this myself, but you might like to take a look at Racaire's blog:
